Traditional handcrafted candle pyramids aka "spinners" use the heat from lit candles to rotate a central propeller and carousel, creating a moving scene with figures depicting Christmas and winter themes. Originating in the 16th century, they originally served as simple light sources for miners in the Erzgebirge (Ore Mountains) and evolved into the elaborate Christmas decorations we know and love today.
